Creators’ Rights
Media-Society believes creators should remain clearly associated with the work they produce.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, creators retain the rights they hold in works submitted to Media-Society. By submitting a work for publication or display, the creator grants Media-Society only the permissions specifically agreed for hosting, displaying, publishing, distributing or promoting that work.
How Media-Society can assist members
- documenting authorship and provenance;
- maintaining records of original files;
- identifying publication history;
- licensing enquiries;
- attribution requests;
- communication concerning suspected unauthorised use;
- referrals for specialised legal assistance where appropriate.
Media-Society Provenance Record
The Media-Society provenance record documents information supplied in connection with a work, including its creator, deposit date and technical characteristics. It does not constitute governmental copyright registration or a determination of legal ownership.
Licensing options
Creators may mark a work as: all rights reserved; editorial licensing available; commercial licensing available; contact creator; or not available for licensing. Public contact goes through Media-Society rather than revealing personal contact details.
AI and digital creation policy
Media-Society distinguishes production methods transparently:
- Human created — created primarily through direct human authorship;
- AI assisted — human-created work in which AI tools were used as part of the creative or production process;
- AI generated — material generated principally by an artificial intelligence system;
- Mixed / composite — work combining multiple production methods.
